Tutor's Personal Statement: I would be a great tutoring choice because of my successful experience teaching students with Specific Learning Disabilities for many years, and because of my 55 credit hours beyond my Master's degree in best practices for teaching students with challenges in reading, spelling, writing, and math. I give students with dyslexia a sound foundation in phonemic awareness and phonics, and their confidence zooms!

Experience with Special Needs Situations: I have loved teaching and case managing students with Specific Learning Disabilities under the federal civil rights law IDEA, who work in Resource Rooms for part of their school day, and return to their classroom to join peers. These children and youths received instruction from me as a licensed Special Education Teacher with a Master's Degree, and since 2004, Full Certification in The SLANT System®, a research-derived Structured Language Program for Reading and Spelling, used with multisensory techniques. This type of program is especially helpful for youths and adults with dyslexia or reading disabilities.
