I have worked with students in Pre-K to 5th grade at many different learning levels. I retired in 2008 and would like to continure to help children to be successful in school.

Tutor's Personal Statement: I would be a good tutoring choice because I have had many wonderful teaching experiences in my 35 years of teaching. I have taught different grade levels and abilities. I genuinely care about and accept each student with kindness and patience. I am enthusiastic, creative, flexible, and I have a sense of humor. I will integrate a variety of strategies, manipulatives, and accommodations to meet the diverse needs of my students. I will have a strong detailed instructional plan to keep my students actively engaged in the lesson. I will adapt and relate lessons in everyday terms and use examples that are relevant to the student. I will modify my teaching style to be effective for different learning situations and student needs.

Experience with Special Needs Situations: My teaching experiences include teaching as a classroom teacher and as a Special Education Learning Disabilities teacher. I taught in the classroom for 24 years and 10 years in Special Education. I was the learning disabilities resource teacher for grades K-5. Also, I was the Special Education facilitator for the school. I organized and facilitated staff consult meetings, screened students for special services, determined which goals and services the students needed after eligibility was determined, and attended IEP meetings for the students. Each day I taught the students the goals and objectives from their IEP.
