I have taught all the subject areas with an expertise in Language Arts/Writing.For two consecutive years, my third grade class scored the highest grade in the state on the writing component of the ISAT.I am now retired after teaching for 20 years, and I would like to help children achieve their goals via tutoring.

Tutor's Travel Willingness: I prefer to travel as close to my students as possible. The northern suburbs of Chicago, namely Highland Park, Deerfield, Lake Forest, and Buffalo Grove would best fit my needs. I am willing, however, to travel to Skokie and Wilmette too.

Tutor's Personal Statement: I have worked as a tutor for approximately 10 years. I enjoy the opportunity to achieve the greatest potential for my students. Tutoring provides me with that goal. I provide a nurturing environment with a great deal of praise to motivate my students. My passion is teaching, and tutoring is the best choice for me at this stage in my career.

Experience with Special Needs Situations: My career in teaching involved working with the "gifted" child. It was my job to enhance the curriculum, and to encourage critical thinking among my students. I provided a nurturing environment where my students had the opportunity to become risk takers, and tobecome independent learners. With that said, my philosophy of teaching is to view the "whole" child and to establish a life-long love for learning.
